A “classic Petite Sirah” – rich and indulgent, with opaque with heavy staining on the tears. “There is a good deal of fruit on the nose” including boysenberry jam, with dark roasted espresso and balsamic notes. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, and offers medium + tannins with a delicious array of macerated red berries and blackberries and interesting secondary notes of maple, sage brush, gravel and new leather. The finish is “powerful and restrained” with sweet integrated tannins. 96 cases produced.
SHOPAromatics: a good deal of fruit on the nose, stewed black fruit [boysenberry jam (feel like I am leaning over a pot stirring jam)], balsamic notes, with dark roasted espresso notes; “brooding”
Palate: full bodied, medium+ tannins, rich oak notes, much brighter on the palate; highly structured bright end palate of boysenberry jam, toast, vanilla, menthol, espresso with some licorice undertones
Finish: sweet integrated tannins, lingering
Food Pairings: With its smoky fruit flavors, Petite Sirah will pair nicely with bold exotic spices and herbs – Pollo con mole is a classic pairing, roasted pork, barbecue beef, bison/beef burgers, game, sausages, grilled steak, Mexican food, braised lamb
Cheese Pairings: The best cheese to pair with Petite Sirah is either a strong cheddar or goat gouda. Other great options are bold cheeses like blue cheese and camembert or look for options that are sharp, aged, or smoked.
