James Labrosse, born in a Spanish-speaking neighborhood in South Florida to a French-Canadian family, moved to Andalucia, Spain at 18 to study Flamenco music. After three years, he relocated to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music, studying Production and Arranging.

Since 2015, James has been based in New York City, leading his own band and performing his original compositions and arrangements. He released his debut album Orange Night in 2018, featuring collaborations with artists from NYC, Spain, and Asia, and earned an endorsement from Godin Guitars the same year. His 2022 EP Duckland includes three original compositions, including fan favorite “Florido y Granado.”

In addition to leading his group, James performs with the Indian Raga-Flamenco band Compass Trio and has collaborated with artists such as Mona Miari, Han Beyli, and Andreas Arnold. He is also the creator and host of Stories of Sound, an upcoming web series documenting musicians’ stories worldwide.
